If there is one thing that I know after running North Rustic Design for over 11 years, no matter how many different sizes, styles, colors, and designs you have, people will want something different at times. A large part of our business is working with our customers on what fits their needs. The one rule in design that we live by is, as long as it has 90 degree angles, we can manufacture it.
All of our products are custom made from the following 4 wood choices
- 3/4 inch pure pine
- 3/8 inch pure oak wood
- 3/4 inch pure cedar
- 3/8 inch pure maple

Custom crates for business and promotion.
Here at North Rustic Design we specialize in creating unique crates for your company to use as promotional pieces and for displaying your product line. We offer many staining options, including a stunning two-color stain process where we use contrasting colors on the inside and outside of the crate itself. I addition to that we can customize crates with your company logo or any design work that suits your project. We specialize in screen printing on wood here at our shop. We also have a full service graphic design department that can handle any and all of your embellishing needs. Rather you have an existing logo that you wish to use or need one created for you, our designer will work with you to create that custom look that you can’t find anywhere else. By combining one of the many styles and sizes of our Badger-Tough crates with the various stain and print colors available, we can create an amazing looking product that is sure to get your customers attention.
Art Guidelines
If you have your own logo or design that you’d like to have printed on your crates, there are numerous file formats that are acceptable for us to use. The preferred formats are .ai, .cdr, pdf, and .eps. The art needs to be in a vectored format so that we can manipulate the design and get the cleanest lines. Jpegs don’t work as well, but rest assured that if a raster image is your only option, our art department can recreate the logo for you for a nominal fee. If there is text involved the fonts need to be converted to curves or the font file needs to be included in your email. We have hundreds of font options here but cannot always match each and every type of text. Also, if you are a new company and lack your own logo or design, we can mock something up for you and work together until you have approved the image for printing. There is an art charge for this process as it normally takes time and revisions, but once the proof is accepted, it is yours to use in the future for embellishing any of our fine products with no additional cost to you. There is a one-time fee for setting up the screen but there is no set up charge for any subsequent orders.
Two-color staining technique
One of our newest and most widely sought after staining techniques is our two-color process where we stain the outside slats of your crate in one color and the inside slats in a different, contrasting stain. This unusual process enables us to create an eye catching crate that you just can’t find anywhere else. We painstakingly stain the boards individually, by hand and assemble the crate afterwards. Although the process is quite labor intensive, our loss is your gain as the finished product has that ‘wow’ factor that will truly impress your customers, clients and friends. You can choose any one of our nearly 20 different colors of stain or visit your local Sherwin-Williams store and choose a color that suits your needs. We work closely with them to match colors and create that custom look that you desire.
So in short, we here at North Rustic Design have the tools and talent in place to take your imagination to the highest level. If you can dream it up, we will build it for you.
